13th Century Saint Narahari Tīrtha’s Idol Discovery

A 13th-century idol of Saint Narahari Tīrtha, a prominent Dvaita Vedanta philosopher and disciple of Acharya Madhva, has been discovered in Srikakulam. Known for his aristocratic roots in the Gajapati Empire and his role in promoting Sanatana Dharma, Narahari Tīrtha contributed significantly to temple administration, literature, and cultural development. He authored 15 works, including the Gita Bhasya, and pioneered Kannada Devaranamas. His administration shaped temple traditions in Simhachalam and Srikurmam. The discovery highlights his historical and cultural legacy, strengthening his influence on Madhva philosophy and Vaiṣṇavism in eastern India.
