Guindy National Park – Climate, Rivers, Species
Guindy National Park is a protected area located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the country’s smallest national parks and is known for its wide variety of wildlife and flora. It is also an important educational centre, offering a variety of nature-based activities for school students.
It covers an area of about 2.70 square kilometres and is bounded by the Adyar River on the north and the Guindy Lake on the south.
Climate
The climate of Guindy National Park is tropical and humid, with temperatures averaging between 28 – 32 degrees Celsius. The park receives an average annual rainfall of 1,000 mm.
Rivers
Guindy National Park is fed by the Adyar River, which flows through the park from north to south. The Adyar River is a major tributary of the Kaveri River and is home to a variety of aquatic life.
