Objectives:

  • To promote apprenticeship in India by providing financial incentives, technology, and advocacy support.
  • To link courses approved by the State and Central Government with apprenticeship training.
  • To involve States/UTs in the implementation of the programme.
  • To engage Promoters, Facilitators/Third Party Aggregators (TPA) for mobilizing the apprentices.

  • Sharing of 25% of prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of Rs. 1500/- per month per apprentice with the employers.
  • Sharing of basic training costs up to a maximum of Rs. 7,500 per apprentice.
  • Promotion of apprenticeship training by sharing the cost of training with the employers.
  • Coverage of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, modular employable skill under skill development initiative, and other courses approved by State governments and Central governments.
  • Availability of online portal for administering the entire implementation of the Apprenticeship Training online.
  • Applicants can get the details of Apprenticeship seats and vacancies through the official portal.

Eligibility:

  • An apprentice is a person who has made a contract of apprenticeship with the employer for apprenticeship training under the Act.
  • Apprentices can be engaged from various categories like ITI pass outs, graduates/diploma holders, trainees who have completed PMKVY/MES-SDI courses or courses approved by State Governments/Central Government, and fresher apprentices.
  • The apprentice must have completed 14 years of age and must possess minimum age, educational and physical qualifications prescribed for the trade.
