Objectives
- Provide financial assistance to Transgender students in completing their education
- Support Transgender students in finding a dignified place in society
Benefits
- Scholarship amount of Rs. 13,500 once every year
Eligibility
- Transgender students with a Transgender Certificate issued through the National Portal for Transgender person of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
- Indian Nationals who are not receiving any other central or state government funded Pre-Matric/Post-matric Scholarship
Implementation Strategy
- Scholarships awarded to students studying in a government or private higher secondary school/college/university
- Technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes XI and XII level including Polytechnics and other courses are covered
- Selection of applications based on total marks achieved in the previous academic year as reflected in the marksheet
Conditions for Scholarships for secondary school (IX & X) Transgender students
- Regular, full-time students studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Government or a Central/State Board of secondary education
- No scholarship for a second (or subsequent) year if the student has to repeat a class
Conditions for Scholarships for senior secondary school (XI & XII) Transgender students
- Regular, full-time students studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Government or a Central/State Board of secondary education
- No scholarship for a second (or subsequent) year if the student has to repeat a class
Exclusions
- Certificate courses are not covered
