India Achieves Tier 1 Status in Global Cybersecurity Index 2024
India achieved Tier 1 status in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2024, showcasing its strong commitment to cybersecurity. The GCI, conducted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), evaluates countries in five key areas: legal measures, technical measures, organizational measures, capacity development, and cooperation. India scored 98.49, placing it among the top 47 countries. Its success is attributed to robust legal frameworks like the Information Technology Act (2000) and the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill (2022), along with advanced technical and organizational measures. This achievement enhances India’s role in global cybersecurity efforts and promotes safer online practices.
