Modi Inaugurates C-295 Aircraft Plant in Vadodara
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new plant in Vadodara that will manufacture C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The project is part of a Rs 21,935 crore deal with Airbus, signed in 2021, to replace the IAF’s ageing Avro-748 fleet. The plant, operated by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, represents India’s first private-sector military aircraft assembly line. The first 16 aircraft will be delivered from Spain, while the remaining 40 will be made in India. This initiative strengthens India’s defence manufacturing and aims to enhance the IAF’s operational capabilities.
