Mizo-Carnivorous Conservation Project

The Pune Forest Department has proposed the Mizo-Carnivorous Conservation Project, aimed at conserving five species—wolf, jackal, fox, civet, and hyena—facing threats from habitat loss, pollution, and conflicts with stray dogs. The project takes a species-specific approach and includes establishing a wolf breeding center. This initiative involves three phases: data collection, threat analysis, and developing mitigation strategies. It represents a critical effort to restore populations and protect these species from further decline.
