India’s Standard Veterinary Treatment Guidelines (SVTGs)
India’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), in partnership with FAO and USAID, launched Standard Veterinary Treatment Guidelines (SVTGs) to standardize animal health care. Designed for veterinarians, these digital guidelines cover large and small ruminants, poultry, and other livestock, detailing disease treatment options, vaccination schedules, and responsible antibiotic use to counter antimicrobial resistance. Updated every 2-3 years, SVTGs aim to enhance animal health nationwide and support policy and budget allocation for veterinary services, reinforcing India’s commitment to rationalized animal healthcare.
