AroTrack: Water-Pollutant Detection Device
AroTrack, developed by IIT Bombay, is an innovative and affordable device designed to detect water pollutants like phenol and benzene. Utilizing the MopR biosensor derived from Acinetobacter calcoaceticus bacteria, the device offers rapid results by causing a colour change in contaminated water samples. It is portable, user-friendly, and operates effectively in diverse environments. Tested in various water conditions, AroTrack is poised to benefit rural and underserved areas significantly by addressing water pollution issues at a grassroots level. Currently in its prototype stage, the device represents a vital step toward sustainable and accessible water safety solutions.
