India Launches Proba-3 Mission

India’s Proba-3 mission, launching on December 4, 2024, is a landmark dual-satellite initiative to study the solar corona. Conducted by ISRO, the mission employs a coronagraph and an occulter on separate satellites flying in precise formation, maintaining a 150-meter distance. This innovative setup facilitates advanced solar observation by blocking direct sunlight and bright celestial light. The satellites will operate autonomously, performing collision avoidance maneuvers and maintaining millimeter-level accuracy. Deployed in an elliptical orbit, Proba-3 exemplifies advancements in space technology and aims to deepen our understanding of solar phenomena.
