Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Elected Namibia’s President
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has become Namibia’s first female president, securing 57% of the votes and continuing the SWAPO party’s 34-year rule. Her victory avoided a second voting round despite the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) challenging the results over ballot shortages and delays. A seasoned politician and unifying figure, Nandi-Ndaitwah has no corruption allegations, bolstering her image. Namibia, with a sparse population of 3 million, faces issues like unemployment and inequality, although SWAPO remains dominant in rural areas. Her leadership could mark a significant chapter in Namibia’s political and social evolution.
