Little Gull Spotted in NCR

The little gull, the smallest gull species globally, was recently spotted near Sultanpur National Park in the National Capital Region (NCR). This rare sighting is notable as there are only about ten recorded instances of this species in India. Little gulls are migratory, traveling from regions like West Asia and Europe. Classified as “Least Concern” on the IUCN Red List, the species breeds in marshy wetlands and migrates to coastal areas during winters. The NCR provides a favorable habitat for migratory birds, enhancing its significance for birdwatching.
