PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) launched on February 15, 2024, aims to establish 10 million rooftop solar plants by March 2027, with a ₹75,021 crore budget. Over 638,000 installations have been completed, generating 2 GW of power. Financial assistance ranges between ₹30,000 and ₹48,000 for systems up to 3 kW, with loans at a 7% interest rate. Gujarat and Maharashtra account for 65% of installations, highlighting geographical disparity. Despite high registration, only 680,000 installations are complete. Proposed community solar projects aim to enhance accessibility for low-income households. Quality and safety issues persist due to unregulated service providers.
