India’s Women-Owned MSMEs
India now has over 2.2 crore women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), thanks to updated policies like the revised MSME definition (2020). Women-owned MSMEs are a significant part of the business ecosystem, aided by initiatives like the Udyam Registration Portal (URP) and Udyam Assist Platform (UAP). Programs such as the Public Procurement Policy mandate 3% sourcing from women entrepreneurs, while financial aid through PMEGP and skill development initiatives like the Yashasvini Campaign ensure women’s business growth. States like Gujarat and Rajasthan have also shown substantial contributions to women entrepreneurship, strengthening India’s MSME sector.
