Analysing aDNA with Twigstats

Recent advancements in ancient DNA (aDNA) analysis, particularly using the Twigstats method, have revolutionized our understanding of ancient human populations. Twigstats improves statistical accuracy and has been used to analyze 1,556 samples from 500 BC to 1000 AD, uncovering migration patterns and cultural transitions. It revealed early Scandinavian ancestry in Britain, predating the Viking Age, and complex gene flow between regions. Haplotype analysis enhances insights beyond traditional SNP methods. The integration of genetic data with archaeological findings enables deeper comprehension of population dynamics, aiding in reconstructing human history while addressing challenges like limited samples and sequencing quality.
