Automated & Intelligent Machine-aided Construction (AIMC) System
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has introduced the Automated & Intelligent Machine-aided Construction (AIMC) system to improve National Highway project efficiency. AIMC employs advanced technologies like GPS-aided motor graders and intelligent compactors, providing real-time updates and enabling simultaneous surveys to address project delays. Pilot testing is underway on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway. MoRTH has benchmarked international AIMC systems, aiming to enhance road quality and ensure timely project completions. With India’s National Highway network expanding to 1.46 lakh km, AIMC’s implementation is expected to boost construction efficiency and infrastructure quality nationwide.
