Breakthrough in Monkeypox Virus Research
JNCASR researchers identified unique GQ sequences in the monkeypox virus (MPV) genome, enabling advancements in diagnostics and therapies. The BBJL fluorescent probe, designed to detect these sequences, improves detection precision by 250 times. GQ sequences are stable and absent in other pox viruses, making them ideal for targeted diagnostics. This research addresses the global spread of MPV, declared a health emergency by WHO, and lays the groundwork for new diagnostic tools and treatments to combat the virus effectively.
