DRDO’s New Cold Weather Clothing System HIMKAVACH

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed the HIMKAVACH multi-layer clothing system to support military operations in extreme cold weather conditions, especially in the Himalayan region. Engineered to operate between +20°C to -60°C, it ensures protection from hypothermia and frostbite while maintaining mobility and comfort. Designed with moisture-wicking, insulation, and wind resistance, the system has successfully passed user trials. HIMKAVACH exemplifies India’s capability in advanced military clothing technology and promises to enhance soldier readiness in challenging environments. DRDO plans to further innovate by incorporating advanced features like camouflage, integrated communication systems, and sustainable materials.
