Eastern Maritime Corridor Boosts Trade

The Eastern Maritime Corridor connecting Chennai and Vladivostok has significantly enhanced trade between India and Russia, reducing transit time from 40 days to 24 days. Spanning 5,600 nautical miles, the route facilitates the transport of crude oil, LNG, fertilizers, and containerized cargo. India has become the largest purchaser of Russian oil, overtaking China, with Vladivostok serving as the largest Russian port on the Pacific Ocean. This trade route strengthens economic ties, reduces Russia’s dependence on China, and offers strategic advantages to both nations in commodities, military, and technology cooperation.
