eCourts Mission Mode Project
The eCourts Mission Mode Project aims to modernize the Indian judiciary through Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Initiated in 2011, Phase I focused on basic computerization, with a budget of ₹935 crore. Phase II (2015-2023) enhanced ICT in 18,735 courts, utilizing nearly ₹1,670 crore. Phase III, approved in 2023 with a budget of ₹7,210 crore, introduces Digital and Paperless Courts, digitized records, and expanded video conferencing. This project streamlines judicial processes, improves transparency, and ensures accessible justice. Led by the Supreme Court’s eCommittee in collaboration with the Department of Justice, it exemplifies India’s commitment to judicial reform.
