Global Matchmaking Platform (GMP) Launch at COP29
The Global Matchmaking Platform (GMP) was launched at COP29 Energy Day by UNIDO and Climate Club, targeting industrial decarbonization and bridging a $125 billion annual funding gap. Pilot projects will run in eight countries, addressing emissions from steel, cement, chemicals, and aluminum industries, which account for 70% of industrial emissions. Developing economies (EMDEs) face resource and technology shortages, receiving only 1.4% of climate finance. International collaboration with nations like Germany and organizations like CIF aims to advance climate goals. Future plans include integrating decarbonization into climate policies, to be further discussed at COP30.
