Himachal Pradesh Drone Stations for Disaster Management

Himachal Pradesh plans to establish drone stations for enhanced disaster management with an allocated budget of ₹800 crore. These stations, modeled like bus terminals, will enable real-time disaster monitoring and efficient aid delivery. The initiative is part of a broader disaster resilience strategy following severe losses from the 2023 monsoon season. The government has merged the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) with the Home Guards to boost coordination. Plans include training 70,000 civil defence volunteers, investing in advanced equipment like drones, and focusing on community resilience. Efforts also aim to address climate change and improve inclusivity within the Home Guards.
