Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme

Introduction:

  • Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) is a scheme by the Ministry of Women and Child Development aimed at addressing gender discrimination and promoting women’s empowerment in India.

Ministry/Agency:

  • Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Objectives:

  • Improve the child sex ratio.
  • Ensure gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Prevent gender-biased, sex-selective elimination.
  • Ensure survival and protection of the girl child.
  • Encourage education and participation of the girl child.

Benefits:

  • Initiatives to build awareness and consciousness among target groups and stakeholders.
  • Digital Guddi-Gudda Board, Udaan – Sapne Di Duniya De Rubaru, My Aim My Target Campaign, Lakshya Se Rubaru, Noor Jeevan Ka Betiyan, Bitiya and Birba, Aao School Chalein, Collector Ki Class, Bal Cabinet.

Eligibility:

  • Family must have a girl child below 10 years of age.
  • A Sukanya Samriddhi Account must have been opened in the name of the girl child in any Indian bank.
  • The girl child should be a resident Indian.

Exclusions:

  • NRI citizens are not eligible for the BBBP scheme.
