Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
Introduction: The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is a maternity benefits program aimed at providing cash incentives to pregnant women for their first live birth.
Ministry/Agency: The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare & Empowerment and the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
Objectives: The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to pregnant women who are experiencing wage loss due to their pregnancy and encourage institutional delivery.
Benefits: The scheme provides a cash incentive of ₹5000 in three installments to eligible beneficiaries for meeting their daily nourishment requirements. The eligible beneficiaries also receive the incentive given under the Janani Suraksha Yojana for institutional delivery.
Eligibility: The applicant must be a pregnant female of age 19 years or above and not availing any paid maternity scheme or leave. The scheme is applicable only for the first live birth.
Implementation Strategy: The scheme is implemented through Anganwadi Centers in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare & Empowerment and the Department of Health & Family Welfare in various states and Union Territories.
