Objectives
- Provide energy access to all households without power

Benefits
- Last-mile connectivity and free electricity connections to all un-electrified households in rural areas
- Last-mile connectivity and free electricity connections to all remaining economically poor un-electrified households in urban areas
- Substitution to kerosene
- Improvement in health services, communication, public safety, and job opportunities
- Better quality of life, especially for women, in daily chores
Eligibility
- All un-electrified households in all villages
- All poor households in all towns in any State/UTs of the country
Implementation Strategy
- Release of electricity connections by drawing a service cable from the nearest pole to the household premise
- Installation of energy meter and wiring for a single light point with LED bulb and a mobile charging point
- Erection of additional pole along with conductor and associated accessories if electricity pole is not available nearby
- Non-poor urban households are excluded from this scheme
- Non-poor rural households will have to pay 10 installments of Rs. 50 each along with the bill each month (total Rs. 500)
