India-Japan Space Debris Collaboration

India and Japan have joined forces to tackle space debris through a collaboration between India’s InspeCity and Japan’s Orbital Lasers. Utilizing laser-equipped satellites, they aim to remove defunct satellites and manage orbital clutter. Orbital Lasers is developing a laser system to vaporize debris, while InspeCity is contributing its expertise, following significant funding in space technologies. This initiative highlights the urgency of space debris management amid the rise of global satellite launches. Both nations are also collaborating on the Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) mission, reflecting their broader commitment to advancing space exploration and sustainable satellite operations.
