India-US Semiconductor Agreement
India and the US have signed a landmark agreement to establish a semiconductor fabrication plant named “Shakti.” This collaboration is a significant technological step involving advanced semiconductors like infrared, gallium nitride, and silicon carbide. It is the first instance of the US Military partnering with India on such a project, with Bharat Semi and 3rdiTech leading the Indian side and the US Space Force participating. The initiative will reduce India’s reliance on semiconductor imports, enhance national security, and support sectors like telecommunications and green energy, marking a new era in Indo-US technology cooperation.
