Indian Submarine Capability Contracts

The Indian Ministry of Defence signed contracts worth ₹2,867 crore to strengthen submarine capabilities. A ₹1,990 crore contract with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. focuses on integrating DRDO-developed Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) Plug, enhancing submarine endurance. Another ₹877 crore deal with Naval Group, France, will integrate Electronic Heavy Weight Torpedoes (EHWT) into Kalvari-class submarines. These initiatives align with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat goal, generating three lakh man-days of employment. The enhancements boost the Indian Navy’s operational effectiveness in underwater warfare and reflect progress in indigenous defence technology.
