India’s First Hyperloop Test Track
IIT Madras has completed India’s first 410-meter Hyperloop test track in collaboration with the Avishkar Hyperloop team, TuTr startup, and Indian Railways. Announced by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the project will develop high-speed transportation technology capable of reaching speeds up to 1,100 km/h in a vacuum-sealed environment. The first phase involves an 11.5-km test track, with plans for a 100-km extension. The Avishkar Hyperloop team, comprising 76 IIT students, plays a pivotal role. The first commercial Hyperloop in India is planned for the Mumbai-Pune corridor, aiming to cut travel time to 25 minutes.
