INSV Tarini’s Historic Expedition
The INSV Tarini embarked on the second leg of its historic Navika Sagar Parikrama-II expedition, sailing from Fremantle, Australia, to New Zealand. Led by two women officers, the mission promotes gender equality and showcases India’s maritime prowess. Having covered 4,900 nautical miles in the first phase, the journey involves challenging conditions across key landmarks like Cape Leeuwin and the Great Australian Bight. Engagements in Fremantle included community outreach, technical checks, and cultural exchange, reflecting the expedition’s dual goals of empowerment and international collaboration. The initiative strengthens India’s presence in global maritime explorations.
