Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express to Commence Service

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project by Indian Railways will soon connect Jammu and Kashmir via the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express. Spanning 272 km, the project features the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, and T-49, India’s longest transportation tunnel. The Vande Bharat train will initially run between Katra and Srinagar, equipped with anti-freezing and snow removal technology for all-weather functionality. The Katra-Banihal section, mostly through tunnels, has passed safety inspections. This development promises to enhance connectivity, boost tourism, and strengthen regional development. USBRL was declared a National Project in 2002, highlighting its national significance.
