Kaziranga Rhino Poaching Drop

Kaziranga National Park in Assam has seen an 86% reduction in rhino poaching since 2016, thanks to focused conservation efforts by the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Indian government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Anti-poaching measures, including 233 camps and a special protection force, have significantly protected the one-horned rhinos, with over 2,850 now present in Assam. Kaziranga houses 2,613 of them. This UNESCO World Heritage Site’s success is due to effective anti-poaching strategies, habitat expansion, and community involvement, making it a global model for wildlife conservation.
