New Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS) Launched

The Government of India launched 10,000 new Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS) to boost rural development and modernize the cooperative sector. Inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, this initiative coincides with Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s centenary and leverages the 97th Constitutional Amendment to enhance cooperative governance. Key measures include computerization, training programs, RuPay Kisan Credit Cards, and Micro-ATMs for financial access. The initiative promotes inclusivity by encouraging women, Dalits, and tribal participation. With plans to establish 2 lakh PACS and three national cooperatives for organic farming, this effort aims to strengthen rural economies and create job opportunities.
