New Rules for Clinical Thermometers in India
The Government of India has proposed new rules for Clinical Electrical Thermometers to ensure accuracy and reliability, seeking public feedback by December 30, 2024. These guidelines, inspired by recommendations from the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), will require verification and stamping of thermometers used in homes, hospitals, and industries. Overseen by the Legal Metrology Department, the initiative aims to align Indian standards with international norms, enhancing consumer trust and improving health diagnostics by standardizing thermometer performance.
