PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, launched on February 15, 2024, aims to install rooftop solar systems in one crore households by March 2027, making it the world’s largest residential solar initiative. With over 6.79 lakh installations completed by December 2024, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh lead in adoption. Offering up to 40% subsidies and low-interest loans, the scheme targets 30 GW solar capacity, contributing significantly to renewable energy goals. Environmental benefits include reducing CO2 emissions by 720 million tonnes and annual electricity savings of ₹75,000 crore. The initiative also encourages sustainable energy use across India.
