Prime Minister Internship Scheme – 2024
The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), launching December 2, 2024, aims to provide 1.28 lakh internships across 745 districts and 25 industries, including energy and IT. Eligible applicants (aged 21-24) will receive a ₹5,000 monthly stipend and a ₹6,000 one-time grant. The pilot phase, with an ₹800 crore allocation, targets 1.25 lakh internships for FY 2025. By excluding IIT/IIM graduates, PMIS ensures inclusivity and equity. It aligns with the government’s vision to skill 1 crore youth in five years as part of a broader ₹2 lakh crore initiative to boost employment and skills development.
