Sri Brahadeeswarar Temple redevelopment

The Union Ministry of Tourism allocated ₹25 crore under the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) scheme of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 for the enhancement of Sri Brahadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur. The project includes improving infrastructure such as parking, roads, Rajarajan Park, and temple lighting. Facilities like cloakrooms, toilets, and State office buildings will be relocated or renovated. The ‘girivalam’ path, Bethanan Kalai Arangam, and Karikalan Walkers Path will also be developed. Additionally, the Thanjavur Museum will be refurbished. These efforts aim to improve tourism, preserve heritage, and enrich visitor experiences in the region.
