Telecom Act 2023
The Telecom Act 2023 introduces significant changes to optimize and regulate the telecommunications sector in the UK. Effective sections include 6-8, 48, and 59(b), which came into force on June 26. The Act replaces the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and the Indian Wireless Telegraph Act 1933, aiming to manage and allocate the telecom spectrum efficiently. It allows spectrum surrender, sharing, selling, leasing, and assignment, promoting optimal use and adaptability to new technologies. Section 59(b) amends the TRAI Act 1997, setting new standards for TRAI appointments. The Act empowers the Central Government to enforce rules and monitor compliance, ensuring a comprehensive, efficient, and adaptable telecom system.
