UDAN 2.0
UDAN 2.0, building on the original scheme launched in 2016, aims to enhance last-mile air connectivity, focusing on 100+ underused airstrips. The original scheme operationalized 86 aerodromes and connected underserved regions, serving over 1.44 crore passengers. UDAN 2.0 identifies viable airstrips, reduces operational costs, simplifies regulations, and encourages new operators like helicopter services. With a goal to expand operational airports to 350-400 by 2047, the initiative prioritizes regional development and tourism. Key features include Viability Gap Funding, promoting water aerodromes, and enhancing connectivity in remote areas.
