Uttar Pradesh Implements GeM
Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in India to fully implement the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) system, replacing its traditional tendering process. This system ensures transparency, eliminates corruption, and promotes fair competition in public procurement. The state also cancelled 33 outdated procurement rules to align with central government standards. By adopting GeM, Uttar Pradesh expects annual savings of over ₹2,000 crore. Notably, the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board successfully used GeM to procure materials for 18 Atal Residential Schools. This initiative highlights the potential of technology to improve governance and resource allocation.
