V Narayanan Appointed New ISRO Chairman
On January 7, 2025, V Narayanan was announced as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), succeeding S Somanath. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Narayanan is renowned for his expertise in rocket propulsion, holding an M.Tech in Cryogenic Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. He has significantly contributed to projects like GSLV Mk III and Chandrayaan missions during his tenure at ISRO. As Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre since 2018, he played a pivotal role in propulsion advancements. Under his leadership, ISRO aims to excel in satellite technology, international collaboration, and human spaceflight.
