Vulture Count 2024 Initiative
WWF-India’s “Vulture Count 2024” project, running from September 7 to October 6, 2024, focuses on counting critically endangered vultures and raising awareness of their ecological role. Vultures, crucial for maintaining ecological balance by consuming carrion and preventing disease, face threats like toxic chemicals, habitat loss, and electrocution. This initiative aims to monitor populations, identify key habitats, and involve volunteers to contribute to conservation efforts. The data collected will help guide strategies to protect vultures and ensure their survival.
