What are Nanozymes?

Nanozymes are artificial enzymes mimicking natural enzymatic functions, now expanding to interact with structural proteins. Research at CSIR-CLRI demonstrated a manganese-based oxidase nanozyme (MnN) successfully crosslinking collagen, enhancing its stability. Innovations like embedding active sites in MOF-808 improve reaction control but face challenges with larger proteins. The studies emphasize balancing reactivity for medical applications and pave the way for durable biomaterials and advancements in biotechnology and medicine.
