Z-Morh Tunnel Inaugurated

The Z-Morh Tunnel, a 6.4-kilometre-long infrastructure project in Kashmir, was inaugurated to provide year-round connectivity between Sonamarg and Kangan in Ganderbal district. Overcoming challenges posed by heavy snowfall and avalanches, it benefits tourism and military logistics in the Ladakh region. Initially started in 2012, the project faced delays due to financial and administrative issues but was eventually completed by APCO Infratech. Part of the larger Zojila Tunnel project, it holds strategic importance for India’s defence operations and economic integration. The tunnel is expected to transform Sonamarg into a winter tourism hub and boost local trade and development.
